Where It All Began
1941
YOUNG LIFE BEGINS IN THE USA
Young Life came about because our founder, Jim Rayburn, believed in loving, supporting and caring for the young people in his community. Fast forward nearly 80 years later and the same methods of befriending, supporting and sharing the good news of Jesus with teenagers is happening in over 103 countries around the world.
2017
CONVERSATIONS ABOUT YL SOUTHAMPTON BEGAN
A group of interested adults and leaders joined to pray, plan and dream about what YL could look like in the city.
2018
WE BEGAN FULL TIME MINISTRY
We hired our first full time staff person, Bethan, who began contact work, leader recruitment and building relationships within the local community.
2018-Now
YOUNG PEOPLE BEGAN TO BE REACHED BY YOUNG LIFE STAFF AND LEADERS
Since 2018, we have grown our contact with kids, our leadership team, committee and staff team. We now have an established YL club and campaigner groups meeting weekly with our leaders.
In 2021, we have even began conversations and the beginnings of a new ministry within Southampton, hiring a new part time staff person to focus on the St. Mary's area of the city.
2022-?
Our vision is to keep going to the next kid in the next area of Southampton.
For this to be possible we need more team, more church support and more supporters. Let's go together for EVERY kid in Southampton. Check out our 'Get Involved' page for more.
